is the specialized department and the most important one at Sujata Birla Hospital. The Department uses technology that is designed with the technique of showing the image, for treating diseases within the body. The Department is handled by a highly experienced radiologist.
The radiology department consists of the different units at Sujata Birla Hospital and they are:
CT Scan Machine
CT scanners are important for diagnosing diseases. At present, Sujata Birla Hospital and Medical Research Center have introduced CT scanner machines in Nashik for diagnosing diseases. In many places, Ct scanner machines are already in use. With the great facility and modern use of technology, we have made arrangements for the CT scanner machine in the hospital to test referred patients at a very minimal cost. The cost incurred is given to the patients.
Digital X-Ray
X-rays are a type of electromagnetic radiation, just like visible light. An x-ray machine sends individual x-ray particles through the body. The images are recorded on a computer or film.
Structures that are dense (such as bone) will block most of the x-ray particles, and will appear white.
Metal and contrast media (special dye used to highlight areas of the body) will also appear white.
Structures containing air will be black, and muscle, fat, and fluid will appear as shades of gray.
Sonography
It produces pictures of the inside of the body using sound waves. Ultrasound imaging is also called ultrasound scanning or sonography. It uses a small probe called a transducer and gel placed directly on the skin. High-frequency sound waves travel from the probe through the gel into the body.
Sonomammography
A mammogram is an x-ray picture of the breasts. It is used to find breast tumors and cancer. You will be asked to undress from the waist up. You will be given a gown to wear. Depending on the type of equipment used, you will sit or stand.
One breast at a time is rested on a flat surface that contains the x-ray plate. A device called a compressor will be pressed firmly against the breast. This helps flatten the breast tissue.
The x-ray pictures are taken from several angles. You may be asked to hold your breath as each picture is taken.
You may be asked to come back at a later date for more mammogram images. This does not always mean you have breast cancer. Your health care provider may simply need to recheck an area that could not be clearly seen on the first test.
Peripheral Color Doppler
PAD is an atherosclerotic occlusive condition in which plaque builds up in the distal arteries. Until 10 years ago, conventional angiography and digital subtraction angiography were the only angiographic techniques used in peripheral vascular disease and are considered gold standard. However, the complications and patient discomfort associated with these techniques have prompted the need of less invasive means of assessing the peripheral arterial system. Aim of the study was to compare efficacy of USG and MDCT angiography for investigating the lower limb arterial disease.
