Summer Foods That Keep You Cool

Summer has arrived, and it promises to be a scorcher. Here are some suggestions for keeping your body cool and eating healthily this summer.

Summer foods that keep you cool include

Fruits – Citrus fruits, watermelons, and muskmelons are the best fruits for the summer.

  1. Watermelons are fantastic as juice or just sliced up because they are full of water.
  2. Other melon kinds, including muskmelons, are similarly hydrating and refreshing in the heat.
  3. Citrus fruits aid in digestion and help break down fatty foods, making them refreshing. (Tip: Avoid eating fruits from street vendors. Rather, purchase the fruits and prepare them at home.)

Curd –Curd is a must-have during the summer. It can be taken as hot buttermilk (making it extra yummy by adding a dash of ginger and coriander), sweet lassi, or chilled yoghurt. In the summer, plain curd rice is also calming and filling. (Tip: Put the curd in the fridge as soon as it’s finished; otherwise, the heat will cause it to sour quickly.)

Cucumber – This water-filled vegetable tastes fantastic in salads and raithas and is suitable for snacking at any time of the day. (Tip: On a hot day, place two circles of cucumber slices over the eyes to cool them down.)

Coconut water – In the summer, this is the preferred beverage. Natural electrolytes included in coconut water provide your body with an instant boost, especially if you’ve had a long day in the sun and are feeling tired. (Tip: Slice open a coconut and nibble on the soft inside peel after drinking the water. It is delicious and cooling.)

Lime and mint – Lime is cooling, and when combined with mint, it creates a highly pleasant beverage that is a great pick-me-up throughout the summer.

Fresh vegetables – Reduce your summertime meat consumption because it does not cool you off. Increase your intake of fresh veggies, which are easy to digest and light on the stomach. Vegetables lose a lot of their natural water when they are overcooked, so avoid doing this.

Onions – Did you know that onions are excellent for cooling things down? It is thought that onions can help prevent sunstroke. (Tip: Because cooking removes much of the water from onions, it is best to eat them raw in raitha, salads, and chutneys.)
